"Messina exhibits intelligence through movement choices that continually illuminate her theme. Her choreography is quirky and gestural, serving the choreographic objective while sparking curiosity."

"It was a reflection of the bold, cosmic energy that drives Messina. Through wit, engaging vocabulary and a devil-may-care attitude, the duet, like the afternoon, did something many are often afraid to do: let go of pretension, deliver levity and push the boulder of dance advocacy up a very steep hill."
Local artist Catherine “Katie” Messina bursts with bright, energetic creativity... Messina leaves the impression of being relaxed and comfortable in her own skin with a wisdom behind her voice and tone.

Katie is extraordinary in her ability to embody the nuances and details of each work. She is always in search of physical and psychological connections while bringing her own strengths to the forefront. She expresses the emotional textures of movement with amazing technical proficiency
The piece was beautifully structured. A movement phrase introduced at the beginning was repeated and built upon throughout, between the jogging interludes.
